Leading teams comes with a unique blend of challenges and rewards. In 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey included a short story based on “The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg.” Traditionally, the story emphasizes avoiding greed, but Covey concluded with “Take care of the goose!”

This perspective was profound for me. It underscored that my primary responsibility is to nurture and support my team and ensure their well-being and growth. In return, they deliver exceptional results. The essence of successful leadership lies in balancing the demands of achieving goals with a positive, supportive environment for the team. Skills, tools, scripts, and mindsets have to be practiced. It is not an easy road.
